5 Ideas of how to Promote your email list

I’ve talked about creating a freebie or lead magnet to get people to sign up for your email list. What do you do with the freebie once you have it ready to share? How do you promote it to get people to signup, and grow your audience?

5 ideas for promoting your email list signup

Add a section to your homepage with a signup for your freebie offer.

Depending on what type of website you have, you may be able to do this yourself, or might have to ask your website designer for help. Your email list provider (Flodesk, Mailchimp, ect) will give you a snippet of code that you insert into the website. Even if you do need to hire your designer to do this for you, it should be a quick project to add in.

Have a pop-up sharing your offer

Your email list provider will have the option of creating a pop up signup. You should be able to control settings such as when it pops up, if it’s on all the pages, if it pops up for return visitors or not. Just like above, there will be a snippet of code that you copy from the email list provider to your website.

Share your offer on social media, including a direct link to signup

You can create a page on your website with your offer or you can link directly to your provider. Flodesk lets me style a pretty page that I can link to from anywhere. See our example, with our free website planning checklist. You can add this as your website link to your social profile, or just share the link in your posts / stories.

Add a footer to your email signature with an enticing line about your freebie, and a link to the signup

If you use a fancy signature program like WiseStamp, you can easily add in a line that says “Want a free guide to planning your website? Get it here.” and link to the page created above. Even if you just create an email in Gmail or whatever program you use, you should be able to add a link in the signature.

Write a blog post about the free download or offer you created

If you blog, you can write a post talking about the free product or offer you created. Give some tips and details about it, and follow it with a link to signup, or even embed your form directly into the blog post.
