How to decide on a Call to Action for your website
All of our website design clients go through a Strategy Session. During this call we review their content, look at inspiration and come up with a strategic plan for their new website. One question I always ask is this.
Take me through how your ideal client goes from landing on your website to booking your service.
I have my clients walk me through the process as it is now, and then we talk about if that is how the want it to work. We also discuss what areas of the website are especially important for potential clients to see.
From this we determine the Call to Action.
A call to action just means what you want people to do. Do you want people to land on your website and book a consultation with you via a scheduling app? Do you prefer they join an email list or read your blog posts? This is something to really think about what is ideal for your business.
Once you choose your primary call to action, then it’s time to think about what’s second best. I prefer potential clients book a call with me, but if not I’d like them to join my email list. I make both options available on my homepage and throughout my website.
This is also the time to think about how they make contact.
Do you want a form that sends you an email and then you contact them? Do you prefer an automatic scheduler that syncs to your calendar? Do you prefer to talk to potential clients by phone, email or video chat? Do you have a welcome sequence when people signup for your email list?
This should give you a lot to think about. If you already have a website but just need to clarify your Call to Action, we offer Strategy Sessions a la carte for this type of help.
