For over a year I followed a marketing business online.  I got excited when her newsletters came in, browsed her website for updates and finally considered signing up for one of her programs.  While I was in the midst of considering it, she sent out an email offering complimentary consultations to anyone thinking about joining the program.

This is someone I felt like I really connected with even though we had never spoken, so I thought her program would be a good fit for me.  Connection, feeling the right vibe, with who I work with and interact with in life is really important to me.  I was super excited and scheduled a 15-minute phone call for the next week.

We got on the phone.  Communication between us was awkward.  How she described what she offered to me over the phone just didn’t jive with what I expected from reading her website. It wasn’t that I didn’t like her, it was just that our energy didn’t connect.  I knew from this short call that she was not someone I would learn a lot from, due to different communication styles.

Can I look at this as she lost my business by talking to me?  Yes, she did. However, this means I would not have been a good client for her. I still think of her services highly.  In fact, I would recommend her to someone else.  She’s just not the right fit for my business.
