how we work

Creating a web presence that tells the story of your business is a collaborative process. We want to we get to know who you are and why you do what you do.

 

You will receive a "homework" list as soon as you book, and we'll guide you through the design process. My awesome assistant, and I, will keep you organized, and encourage you when you need a gentle nudge. Life changes when least expected, and our goal is to work with your needs, so if you ever need more time during any phase, just let us know.

 

Some clients come to us knowing exactly what they want, and others have no idea. Most fall somewhere in between. I have clients give me hand scribbled drawings, screenshots, a photo of their home... so many different ways to share inspiration, and figure out what works for your brand.

 

There are two things that we'll need from you. The first is content, which we can assist you in gathering or creating. The second is feedback when we present a version of the design to you. This helps in creating a website that you (and your clients) love.

 

This is your site, and we work for you. I'll always share my opinion with you, and ask you questions about your preferences, but in the end you get to choose.

 

why us?

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, a certificate in Multimedia Design, and ten years experience in the Information Technology industry. After having my first daughter, I quit my IT job and launched a photography business, which I ran for six years before realizing what I truly love.

 

I'm an absolute tech and design geek, but what I really enjoy most is collaborating with other creative women. I love strategizing together, brainstorming, and sharing my knowledge... really working with you to turn ideas into a beautiful website that gets you the clients you want.

the details

As a small business, we only accept 1-2 new clients per month so we can do our best work. We often book four to ten weeks in advance, depending on our current workload. To get on our calendar, we require a $500 deposit and signed agreement. As soon as you are on our calendar, my assistant and I will start working with you to gather everything you need to be ready for our first discovery meeting.

HOW LONG DOES THE WEB DESIGN PROCESS TAKE?

It depends on the details of your project, and if you already have your brand established. Being collaborative, the project timing also depends on your responsiveness, in gathering materials and in giving feedback. An estimate is 8-12 weeks.

WHAT SERVICES DO YOU OFFER?

Services include custom websites, semi-custom design, and work together sessions. All our websites are search engine friendly, and all projects include adding your content. I always take time to answer all your questions and make sure you understand how your website works. See our What We Do page for more details.

DO YOU ONLY WORK WITH PRO PHOTO?

I can work with many Wordpress themes, but I typically recommend the Genesis Framework, Pro Photo, or Elementor. After getting to know you and your business, we’ll decide together what backend will let us to create the right look for your brand.

WHY DO YOU SPECIALIZE IN WORDPRESS?

I could go on for hours about why I love WordPress, but I promise I won’t. If you’d like the long answer, read Why I am a WordPress Geek. In short, it’s extremely versatile, search engine friendly, and easy for to maintain. WordPress is regularly updated to keep up with changing technology.

DO I HAVE TO HOST WITH YOU?

Instead of offering hosting, I have chosen to partner with a managed Wordpress host that does an incredible job. While I strongly recommend my hosting partner, Flywheel, but you are welcome to host with whoever you prefer.

WHAT ABOUT SQUARESPACE?

I admit, it took me some time to come around here but I've realized Squarespace definitely has it's place, and have started working with it this last year. I actually love it for small shops! It's e-commerce is so much simpler than anything in Wordpress, which means you can maintain your shop. It's also great when you want a site up quickly.

BUT I LOVE SHOWIT!

Showit has really improved in the last few versions, and I do believe there are some reasons you might choose it. I have recently partnered with a Showit developer to assist in creating my designs in the platform. I can work in it as well, but she's an expert and much quicker than me with putting it all together.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Typically our wait list is between four and ten weeks. It sounds long but truly four weeks seems to be the ideal time most clients need to gather images, review content and get ready to kickoff. For Work Together sessions and small website updates, I can typically get you in much sooner. Booking a consult is the first step to getting started.
