One Toddler. Three cats. Two adults. Two cars. Eight states from Oregon to Virginia.

I had a little preview yesterday taking my cat Gracie Joy to her eye specialist, with Mackenzie along.

Raow.
Oh. Gracie says Raow.
Yes, she does not like the car.
I do not like the car either.
Raow. Can we sing?
Yes.
Raow Raow Raow.

The round trip drive was only an hour and a half. It wasn’t really bad, just an interesting preview seeing how my cat and little girl played off each other.

Most of you know I love road trips. I have driven before with two cats and my hubby along but in a different car, from New York to Oregon. My hubby and I have driven together from Washington to New York with one kitty, Bincy, and absolutely lousy planning, which meant a 16 hour day. (Hitting the Great Lakes on a Saturday night in the summer requires a hotel reservation! That is a lesson I will never forget.)

After college was my big trip cross country, which is a story for another time, or not, but a story in itself. We drove from New Paltz, New York south through Maryland and Virginia, all the way down to Key West, Florida. Then out to Texas, California, British Columbia, and eventually back to New York. We spent two months on the road on I think $1000 each some how. As I said… another story.

This time we will pack, plan, and be organized. AAA, maps, booked hotels, short driving days, and lots of time for playing dolls each evening! I hope to document it all with incredible photos, but most likely I’ll pickup my hubby’s Canon point and shoot taking lots of snap shots… as long as the memories are captured!

I adore my hubby. He is wonderful and sweet. I thought I’d do a little bit of a promotion piece here for him. After buying our own home, and my relentless taking over the remote control to put on HGTV, Dan got very interested in real estate. In between working full time as a teacher for Job Corps in Portland, and being a very involved dad, he managed to go back to school. Last spring he passed the exams and became a licensed real estate agent. Just Friday, he completed another certification making him a short sale specialist.

Check out his blog or Facebook page. Even if you are not quite ready to buy or sell your home, he’s always willing to give advice.

We met over ten years ago, and I am still amazed by his determination!
