When I first moved to Northern Virginia, I wrote a blog post that I wanted to network with other wedding and portrait photographers in the Washington DC area. I wasn’t sure that anyone would respond. I look at the numbers of my blog readers but yet still always feel surprised when a client talks to me about something I wrote. “Wow people actually read my blog!”, goes through my head.

So this post, ended up being one of my popular posts ever. I got a pile of comments and emails. A couple of other photographers jumped up and helped spread the word. We started a Facebook group, and before I knew it we had over 50 members. More importantly we have over 20 photographers that are very active in the group, attending monthly meetings, organizing meetups, sharing knowledge and helping each others businesses grow.

Thank you everyone for all your help in creating this amazing photographers networking group!

These portraits of Laura were taken late in the afternoon, just before dusk. Laura is a photographer too. It’s always a bit different working with someone else who is used to being behind the camera. Sessions become kind of an exchange of ideas, which is neat. These were taken in Portland’s SE Industrial neighborhood.
