Rebecca and Trevor got married at Shrine of the Sacred Heart Church in NW Washington DC on June 10th. We went to Meridian Hill Park for portraits, and ended the day at the McLean Gardens Ballroom for their wedding reception. I photographed this wedding, for His and Her Photography, with the assistance of second shooter, Angel Kidwell.
I first met Rebecca and Trevor a few weeks prior. Drew of His and Her Photography, introduced us at a Dupont Circle coffee shop. One of the first things Rebecca spoke of was having wedding photos taken on a DC public bus. It was very important to her to have public transportation incorporated into their wedding day. I love doing unique things, so I was right away excited. Her and Trevor had an ambitious schedule planned, and emphasized this was the one thing that was a must-do.
On their wedding day, I met the bride and her bridesmaids at the couple’s apartment in NW DC. There was energy all around as the ladies got dressed and waited for Trevor to arrive. The apartment has an adorable little backyard, where we the couple did their first look. Then we walked to the bus stop. All heads turned, and other bus passengers seemed to have almost as much fun with it as we did.
From the amazing park to the incredible Catholic church, the unique bus ride, and the elegant reception, it was quite a day! The couple was smiling the entire time. Her maid of honor told, probably the most memorable and funny story during her toast, that I have ever heard. To sum it up, her and Rebecca met Trevor on the same day, and both had the same idea. It was very sweet story, and had everyone laughing.
