Why do engagement portraits? You can use them to submit your wedding announcement to the local newspaper. Take your favorite, add some text, and print it as a save-the-date, or have a guest book created from the photos. An engagement session also gets you used to being in front of the camera before your wedding, and lets you get a taste for working with a photographer. I always offer a credit if you do an engagement session and then, within 30 days of seeing your proofs, decide to book your wedding with me.
